Llandovery Caravan Park is an established, successful 3 star park located at Llandovery Rugby Football Club and operating as a small touring and seasonal park to raise funds in support of the development of a highly successful community rugby club.
The Park benefits from a quiet setting on the outskirts of Llandovery and clients have access to the Club’s social, bar and dining facilities (Friday - Sunday & by appointment). The park has been established for over 15 years and now supports over 60 seasonal serviced clients and a number of touring/rally pitches with and without electric hook ups. The park is open all year and whilst the seasonal clients frequent the site throughout the year the touring pitches are predominantly used over the Summer season (Easter - September) with occasional rallies at various times of the year.
The vacancy at Llandovery Caravan Park is a low key, easy going opportunity for a self employed voluntary contract to oversee the daily operation of the park on annual basis largely focused on providing our clients with a point of contact, dealing with bookings and arrivals and to ensure that the current Visit Wales 3 star grade is at least maintained. Whilst as a volunteer Host there is no direct payment for the role we will provide a free pitch (on an annual contract), free gas, electricity, wifi, laundry and membership of Llandovery RFC and there is an opportunity for regular paid part time employment through the clubhouse (see below). We will also be prepared to consider any alternative arrangement applicants care to propose!
All commercial activities at Llandovery RFC - Clubhouse & Caravan Park are coordinated by Gina Deering, the club's administrator who is on site at least 5 afternoons per week. The Clubhouse is run by a steward/chef partnership and serves Caravan Park clients, club members and other clients. All staff, contractors and volunteers are answerable to the Club’s Board of Directors who are themselves mainly volunteers but on a day to day basis the Hosts’ immediate point of contact will be Gina.
Whilst we have almost 100 pitches the Park is not in a peak tourist area and as a result it is only sometimes busy at weekends and over Bank Holidays, indeed for the most of the year there are only seasonal clients at the park over weekends and over the summer months we might only have one or two clients per night mid week so it is not a high pressure commitment.
Our Park Hosts are expected to be the first line of contact for our clients & visitors (touring & seasonal), this will include dealing with bookings, arrivals etc. Cleaning and ground maintenance is predominantly undertaken by other volunteers or employees but our Park Hosts will of course be expected to carry out any emergency maintenance/cleaning of the Park facilities as might arise.
We will not specify any hours of work or work schedules as we will leave that to your discretion, the only requirement is that you maintain the highest standards of customer care and cleanliness. This will mean that our Hosts do not have to be on the Park 24/7 but they will be expected to develop procedures along with the Club Administrator to deal with all likely client issues (bookings, arrivals, payments etc) and this is likely to require some presence on Friday afternoons/evenings and over the weekend as a minimum. There will be days when you will hardly need to be on the park and can just enjoy the area or alternatively if working as a couple the contract would allow either member to gain alternative employment. There will be opportunity for paid employment as a member of the bar staff team within the Clubhouse and a minimum number of hours bar work will be ring fenced for our hosts if required and appropriate.

The role suits couples that have not been site wardens before and the contract might suit somebody who wants to try out the lifestyle of park wardening for a minimum period of ideally one year. We of course recognise that this is not suitable for everybody! It is essential that you have some IT skills, experience of caravanning and have your own caravan/motor caravan which is suitable for you to live in whilst at Llandovery Caravan Park.
We will of course need some sort of reference as we will be placing a great deal of trust in our Hosts.
If everything goes well we would be prepared to extend the contract over the minimum 12 months in the first instance.
