·         The attractions of beer and curry were too much for some members and they didn’t actually see any of the game, so here’s a brief summary!

It was a thrilling finish at Church Bank on Saturday, October 4th, as Llandovery snatched a dramatic 36-35 victory over RGC (Rygbi Gogledd Cymru) with the last kick of the game in their Super Rygbi Cymru clash. The result maintained the Drovers’ unbeaten start to the season and sent them to the top of the league table.

RGC looked set to claim a major away scalp, controlling much of the match with a forceful presence at the breakdown and sharp, incisive running from their backs. Heading into the final seven minutes, the North Walians held a commanding 35-22 lead. However, Llandovery launched a remarkable comeback in a grandstand finish. Full-back Jac Davies sparked the late surge with a crucial converted try. Then, in the final minute, young back-row Tiaan Sparrow crashed over from a close-range line-out to pull the hosts within a single point. This set the stage for fly-half and local hero Ioan Hughes. Keeping his cool under immense pressure, Hughes slotted the difficult, touchline conversion to secure the 36-35 win as the final whistle blew. RGC’s valiant effort was rewarded with two bonus points—one for scoring four tries and another for finishing within seven points of the winners. Llandovery’s fourth consecutive bonus-point win sent them above Ebbw Vale, whose game was postponed.
