25 CLUB SIX NATIONS COMPETITION UPDATE No 5, March 17 2024


Person with highest score out of 10 wins £200

The winner of the competition and the £200 prize is former Drovers prop Dai Thomas, New Road, Llandovery with a score of seven out of ten (7/10).

He tied for first place on 7/10 with Daniel Davies but won out on the tie breaker in which participants had to estimate the total number of points scored by Wales over the five matches.

Dai Thomas’s estimate of 90 points was only two short of Wales’s final tally of 92 whereas Dan Davies’s estimate of 54 was well short.

Breakdown of scoring – with result –  was: Six Nations winner IRELAND (3 points); Wales finishing position SIXTH (2 points); top Wales try scorer RIO DYER/ANY OTHER PLAYER  (shared 1 point each) ; number of red cards in all matches TWO (2 points); Wyn Jones caps ZERO (1 point)

DAI THOMAS forecast: Ireland to win (3/3); Wales to finish fifth (0/2), any other player top scorer (1/2), two red cards (2/2); no Wyn Jones caps (1/1) TOTAL 7/10 (tie breaker 92)

DANIEL DAVIES forecast:  Ireland to win (3/3); Wales to finish sixth (2/2), any other player top scorer (1/2), six red cards (0/2); no Wyn Jones caps (1/1) TOTAL 7/10 (tie breaker 54)

Other scores ranged from 0 to 6 with three entrants just short on six points – Stuart Dole, Paul Adams and Jeff Rees.
