April 20 2024 25 CLUB NEWSLETTER NO 14 2023-2024

Please note that there is a separate 25 Club page on the Llandovery RFC web site with a drop down menu for newsletters. There is also a separate page for match reports.

  • FIRST/LAST TRY COMPETITION

The two £50 winners of the latest competition on the occasion of the Llandovery v Swansea Premiership game were Geri Davies who benefitted from a try by scrum half Lee Rees (9) and Howard Potter with a late try from replacement hooker Taylor Davies (17).

The next leg of the competition will be on Thursday night at the Llandovery v Bridgend game.

The competition will also operate on May 4 at the semi final play off and – hopefully – on May 11

  • HOSPITALITY

We can now confirm that the end of season Black Tie dinner for members and a guest will be at the clubhouse on Friday 17 May – 7 for 7 30 pm.

The all inclusive dinner will be accompanied by a rugby/sport/general knowledge Prize Quiz and a Question and Answer Forum with the club coaches.

Members are encouraged to invite or bring extra guests to enjoy the all inclusive evening at a cost of £60 per head – or tables of 10 discounted to £550

Please inform Gina of your attendance with/without a guest and any extra paying guests asap.

We are hoping that the WRU Cup – and Premiership Trophy? –  will be on show that evening

  • DISCOUNT

On production of their membership card, 25 Club members can take advantage of a 10% discount when eating in at The West End Café.

Ozzy’s have also generously offered a 10% discount on purchases.

  • DRAGONBET

Bookmakers Dragonbet (dragonbet.co.uk) offered odds on the Llandovery v Swansea  Premiership game.

They gave Swansea a 28 point handicap start over the Drovers.

Llandovery won by a margin of 31 points so a number of 25 Club members who backed the team to win by over 28 points were in luck.

WRU regulations state:

National League placings will be decided on the basis of League points gained during the season. Where teams have gained equal numbers of League points, the team with the most wins shall be given preference. If the number of wins is equal, the team with the fewest losses shall be given preference. If the number of losses is equal then the Club having recorded the most tries in the Season shall be given preference. If the number of tries is equal the points ‘for’ shall be divided by the points ‘against’ and the team with the highest factor shall be declared to have the better record
