Cap Presentation Evening

As we begin to look forward to our Hen Borthmyn reunion next weekend we thought we should clarify what is happening regarding the awarding of Caps. We believe that the club last awarded caps sometime back in the 80s or 90s and we thought it was time that we reintroduced the tradition in some way! The question was how? In all honesty we only have reasonable data for those players that represented the first XV since the establishment of the HEINEKEN LEAGUES in 1990/91 season and there are no detailed records for other teams.
As a result AND AS A STARTING POINT a small working group have collated the information that we have available.

When the club did this last we believe they used 25 years as the minimum criteria but we felt that this was too high a barrier. The working group decided that we should award caps to those players that we know have represented the 1stXV at least 100 times. We also wanted to recognise players that had represented the 2nd XV for over 15 years.

I am delighted that this gives us almost 100 recipients already for our first tranche of awards and we suspect that we will get more names put forward for recognition over the next few weeks and we will try to verify all suggestions for a further ceremony in the future. I hope this clarifies who will be awarded this weekend as I fear there may have been some mixed messages sent out as we tried to raise interest in the event. Please come along and please keep on suggesting names of players that you believe should be recognised as a working group WILL be going through all the suggestions for the next award ceremony!
