Llandovery game called off because of frost

Llandovery’s attempt to make it a 23rd consecutive league and cup win over Swansea –  a quite remarkable record that dates back to August 2010 – was foiled by the weather Huw S Thomas.

A pitch inspection, no more than an hour before kick-off, ruled the game unplayable because of the frozen St Helen’s pitch.

It dashed any brief hopes that the Drovers had of joining Cardiff at the top of the Indigo Premiership table.

A bonus point win would have put them level with the Blue and Blacks on 38 points and ahead of Aberavon who are currently on 35 points.

As it is, Llandovery remain in third position in the table on 33 points but have played two games less than Aberavon and one game less than Cardiff.

This Thursday’s S4C televised game at Church Bank between Llandovery and Aberavon promises to be the tightest of affairs between the only teams to have beaten Cardiff this year.

The Drovers beat Cardiff 19-16 in the Welsh Cup and the Wizards had an impressive 30-23 league victory over the capital club.

*** Thursday night’s kick off against Aberavon at Church Bank is scheduled for 7 30 pm, weather permitting. Supporters should check with the club before travelling.
